Standing Ovation at Cuckfield
The Gwalia’s latest concert, was a wonderfully successful event in the unique village of Cuckfield, Mid Sussex. This concert had been planned for around 3 years but was constantly deferred due to the restrictions of Covid.
The concert took place at the 11th Century Grade 1 listed, Holy Trinity Church. https://www.holytrinitycuckfield.org/
The beautiful church had a such great acoustic for the audience to appreciate a mixture of Welsh and English favourites, interspersed with a piano duet from Wyn Hyland and Chris Duckett which was very warmly received by the packed congregation. As was the audience participation during Wyn's arrangement of the 007 James Bond theme.
After the final song the audience gave the choir a standing ovation, and that, coupled with their very positive comments towards the choir will be long remembered.
The choir then moved on to an intimate and friendly pub next to the church, and finished the day with a local brew and a few songs.
Well done to John Harrow for keeping on top of this fixture through all the correspondence, re-arranging of dates and related problems over the last 2-3 years. It was worth all that effort.
Also, many thanks to the members of the Rugby choir who combined with us to produce such a wonderful sound during this event.
