The Gwalia have taken part in many Media events over their 50 year history. A brief selection are listed below.
Xmas Eve recording at the BBC
The Gwalia were recently at the BBC Broadcasting House, Portland Square, to provide background vocals for a BBC Radio 4 programme called ‘Loose Ends’, hosted by the well known TV presenter Clive Anderson, during which, our own Radio star and President Cerys Matthews will be reading an excerpt from 'the famous ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’, written by Dylan Thomas’.
Whitbread TV Advert
The Gwalia have a rich history of media performances. This was for a Whitbread Beer TV advert as far back as the 1970’s. Various choristers involved with the advert are still singing with the current Gwalia choir.
BBC Radio London
The Gwalia were invited to sing a few Welsh favourites as part the Robert Elms morning radio programme to celebrate St David’s Day.
Guinness TV advert
Featuring the Gwalia singing Myfanwy
The Man who went up a hill and came down a mountain
The Gwalia sang ‘Men of Harlech’ on the soundtrack to the famous feature film, starring Hugh Grant.
TV’s ‘Great British Bake - Off
Members of the Gwalia and The London Welsh Rugby Club Choir recorded for the opening sequences to the popular TV programme. The filming was to represnt a group of miners exiting the oven eating their freshly baked pasties.
